On August 23, 2021 Alexander Kuzmin, our friend and comrade, a devoted human rights lawyer and our deputy at the Riga City Council, has untimely passed away. His death was a total shock to all of us. It was so unexpected.

He stood up for the interests of the Russian community of Latvia with sincere dignity, also at the international level.

He made a huge contribution to the development of appeals to the European Court of Human Rights which aim at defending the right of the Russian children to study in their native language.

He always responded to people who turned to him for help. His advice and assistance were always qualified and accurate.

This world will never be the same without Alexander.

Farewell, our friend and comrade.
