This week I informed my fellow MEPs of the European Parliament about what is happening in Latvia. “The first of September was marked in my country’s calendar by two events: many children will no longer hear their mother tongue in school lessons, and thousands of permanent residents of Latvia have remained in the country illegally from this moment on,” I said from the rostrum of the Parliament.
