The Latvian Russian Union Rating is Going Up. We Appreciate Your Support

859

According to the SCDS research Center, the Latvian Russian Union is expected to get seats in the new 14th Seimas of Latvia. So, in March, 3.2% out of all voters expressed their support to us. At that, more than 40% of respondents do not yet know who to vote for, or are not going to vote.

At the same time, both the percentage in the elections, as well as the number of mandates received by parties, are calculated only from the voters who came to vote. Therefore, if you estimate the level of support of a party only on the basis of the data related to the ones who feel determined with their preferences, it will make 5.4% for the LRU. At that, in January our rating was estimated at 5.1%, which means that the number of our supporters is gradually growing.

The data provided by another sociological company also speaks for the growth of the support to us. The Factum Agency held a research in March this year among those who have already determined their choice with regard to the party they will vote for. According to their data, 5,6% felt ready to cast their votes for us. Therefore, if the elections to the parliament were held in March, the Latvian Russian Union would overcome the 5% barrier and our fraction would be formed in the new composition of the Seimas.

There are still five months before the elections and we hope that during this period the support towards us will increase even more. It will enable us to form a pretty stable group in the parliament. It goes without saying that the leaders of our list are bearing the utmost responsibility as they are people who have proven themselves to be worthy people’s trust in many previous electoral campaigns.

Miroslav Mitrofanov, the chairman of the RSL faction in the Riga City Council, is number one in the Riga constituency. Miroslav Mitrofanov also has gained experience as a deputy of the Seimas and the European Parliament.

In the second largest constituency, Vidzeme, the candidate list of the party will be headed by Olaine City Council deputy Andris Vurčs, who managed to win the municipal elections under rather difficult conditions.

Andrei Pagor, a deputy of the Jelgava town Duma, is going to be nominated number one of the list in the Zemgale district.

In Kurzeme, Elena Osipova, the editor of the infoliepaja.lv news portal, will be leading the list and in Latgale Ekaterina Stekhnovskaya-Slavskaya, a lawyer and the executive director of the Stream Labs will lead the list. Both are active members of our party, for whom the upcoming campaign won’t be the first one.

The elections to the Seimas are going to be held on October 1st, 2022 and the leaders of our lists are going to stand up for the interests of our voters with dignity and determination. In 2019 our party leader Tatjana Zdanoka was re-elected as a member of the European Parliament for the forth time. In 2020 we got back to the Riga City Council and last year we obtained representation in a number of municipalities. All that evidences that we are capable of winning and that this year is to become the year of our return to the Seimas.
