For Another Europe!
Our goal is Europe for all nations! Each nation of the European Union – the level of independence to which it aspires. We must transform the EU from a union of governments into a union of peoples, regions, autonomies and cultures. Less power to governments, more to regions and self-governments. Under this model, Russians in Latvia should receive cultural autonomy, including the right to determine the languages of instruction in schools and choose the language of communication with the state. For the planning regions of Latvia – more opportunities for direct interaction with the EU institutions in the implementation of regional development projects.
We will achieve our goals at the EU level together with the 45 parties of the European Free Alliance, of which the Latvian Russian Union is a member of. In the European Parliament, we will work together with the green parties and continue our cooperation with the left political forces.
Our goal is a federal Europe that systematically and fairly develops all regions of the EU. In the conditions of the current EU, Latvia is losing its future in the form of educated and active residents who move to more developed countries for the reason that our country cannot objectively compete with them in an unregulated market. At the same time, the European Union maintains protectionist measures to protect the interests of enterprises in developed countries. We are for the rejection of protectionism, for fair access for Latvian enterprises to the markets of Western Europe, for equalizing direct payments to Latvian peasants to the level of developed countries. The European Union should introduce direct additional payments to physicians, teachers and other specialists for the period of cohesion of economic conditions in the European Union in order to encourage these specialists to remain working in Latvia.
The European Union must become a social union. We are in favour of a policy of gradual harmonization of the tax system and the equalization of wages, pensions, social benefits, affordable health insurance schemes and concessional housing loans in different parts of the European Union. Education should also be transferred to the EU’s sphere of competence. The goal of the common European education system should be a person with systematic knowledge, critical thinking and the possibility of continuous development of his abilities.
The overall EU budget should grow to a level where the EU can allocate enough funds to science, including medical research, robotics, the development of emission-free energy, multilingual translation systems and artificial intelligence, in order to successfully compete with other leaders in world development – USA and China.
Another Europe must be able to defend its values. We are for the creation of a single judicial and law enforcement system of the European Union, which will be able to eradicate corruption, fight all forms of discrimination and stop governments in case of repressions of dissidents. The European Union must abandon double standards in the field of human rights and ensure rights and freedoms, first of all, on the territory of the EU itself, and then criticize third countries.
We are for a responsible migration policy that combines the fight against irregular immigration, comprehensive assistance to countries from which people flee to Europe for economic reasons, and at the same time assistance in the resettlement of workers necessary for the EU economy.
Europe must remain an example for the rest of the world in the fight against climate imbalances, in providing healthy living environments for residents and preserving biological diversity.
Our goal is to refrain from moving towards war, from confrontation between the West and Russia. We are for a dialogue about common values, mutual recognition of interests and cooperation in all areas where this is possible now.
Our vision of the future is a United Europe of values, economy and culture from Lisbon to Vladivostok.
